Equipment for Boys

To play youth lacrosse for Concord-Carlisle Youth Lacrosse, each player must have the following equipment:

  • Regulation lacrosse stick
  • NOCSAE approved lacrosse helmet (Hockey helmets are not acceptable)
  • Mouth guard that attaches to the helmet
  • Arm and shoulder pads
  • Gloves (Hockey gloves are acceptable but not recommended because they don't flex properly for lacrosse)
  • Athletic supporter with protective cup

Rib pads are optional.

Recommended footwear will vary depending on playing surface (synthetic turf or natural grass) and field conditions.   Generally, molded sole cleats (soccer shoes are acceptable) are recommended for playing on grass, and flat-bottom athletic shoes ('flats') or turf shoes (sneakers are acceptable) are recommended for playing on turf.

The program provides goalie equipment for those who need it.  The equipment includes the following:  goalie stick, chest protector, throat protector and optional thigh pants.  Unlike other positions, the goalie may wear soccer or hockey shin guards.  If your child would like to play goalie and you have specific questions about the equipment needed, please contact your child’s coach.

Lacrosse equipment can be purchased at a local sports store such as Brine Sports on Main Street in Concord or Hit The Net Sports in Acton.  If you are new to lacrosse and need to purchase all required equipment, the baseline cost will be at least $200.  The costs will vary depending on quality of the equipment and brand.

For the safety of all involved, only players with the required equipment will be permitted to play.  Please be sure that your child has these items for all practices, scrimmages and games, or he will not be permitted to play.
